How Dania Beach takes permit applications
The city's permit process page says completed applications with supporting documents can be submitted in person at the Building Division, Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., or through the exterior drop box in front of City Hall's doors on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (City of Dania Beach). City Hall is at 100 W Dania Beach Blvd.
- Contractor registration. Contractors also complete the city's Contractor Registration Form and include a copy of a valid driver's license with supporting documents.
- Review. Plans are reviewed for compliance with the Florida Building Code. If more information is needed, you are notified through the contact method you chose, and you can track the application on the city's permits portal.
- Approval. Once approved, the city emails an invoice and the accepted payment methods. If the permit is rejected, plan reviewers send comments on what needs revising.
What goes into a seawall package
We did not find a seawall-specific checklist published by Dania Beach, so ask the Building Division what it wants for your job. Seawall packages in neighboring Broward cities typically include sealed seawall and pile plans, a sealed survey with existing and proposed elevations, a special inspector form for piles, and county environmental approval. Our seawall permits guide compares the city checklists side by side.
The elevation the plans must meet
If the job is new or a substantial repair, the plans have to meet LDC Section 240-30: 5 feet NAVD88, or 4 feet for applications before January 1, 2035 when designed to reach 5 feet by 2050 (LDC Sec. 240-30). See the Dania Beach height requirement and deadlines.
Who usually does the paperwork
A licensed contractor and an engineer normally assemble the package and apply, including the Broward County license for work in the water. Ask for permitting to be listed as its own line in your quote, and check any contractor's license on MyFloridaLicense.com.
